Shenmen piercing for weight loss?
Weight loss is among the main goals of modern society. Many people have suffered from extra weight or being overweight at least once in their lives, and even more are still struggling with it today.
But what do people who already have one say? Can the Shenmen piercing be good for weight loss? What other wellbeing body jewellery may help? Is there research on this? You can find the answers to these questions in our article below!
The effects of the Shenmen piercing – when is it recommended?
A Shenmen piercing is a piece of wellbeing body jewellery.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this acupuncture point is often used to reduce stress and improve mood.
The Shenmen piercing according to our guests’ feedback, it has helped them with the following problems:
- depression
- headaches
- joint pain
- long-term stress
- allergy
- sleep problems
- addiction / quitting
- dizziness
Shenmen piercing for weight loss – could it be an option?
Although there are theories according to which the Shenmen piercing may help with weight loss by influencing appetite and metabolism in a certain way, its direct effect on weight loss has not really been scientifically proven.
What our guests have said:
- The Shenmen piercing helped them with weight loss by easing their anxiety, which in turn reduced the binge eating it caused.
- And as a result of the reduction in long-term stress, they found it easier to quit, whether smoking or frequent snacking.

The University of Adelaide in Australia, in a study it carried out, examined 60 obese individuals, who were divided into two groups. The members of one group received acupuncture treatment, while the other formed the control group. The treatment consisted of stimulating the Shenmen and stomach points at the same time. The results showed that appetite decreased significantly in the members of the acupuncture group, and as a result weight loss could also be demonstrated. The researchers summarised the study, on the basis of which it can be said that acupuncture stimulates the auricular branch of the vagus nerve and so raises serotonin levels, which increases the tone of the smooth muscle of the stomach and suppresses appetite.
This is the piercing that may work best if weight loss is the goal
So we have seen that, according to some experiences, the Shenmen piercing may also be an option for weight loss – but which piercing can help you most in reaching your goal?
First of all, it is important to make clear that if you would like to lose weight, the most important thing is the combination of a healthy diet and regular exercise. However, always consult your doctor or a dietitianbefore trying any new method for weight loss. Healthy eating, exercise and appropriate lifestyle changes are usually more effective and safer for long-term weight control.
Many people choose the Slim piercing to support their lifestyle change and to work on several fronts to make their weight loss a success.
The placement of the jewellery also known as the appetite-reducing piercing is on the small piece of cartilage in front of the ear canal, which is also called the tragus. Basically it doesn’t matter which ear the piercing goes in – it can even be placed in both at once.
A Slim piercing has a name that says it all. Besides the fact that, according to our guests, their appetite decreased, and in overcoming “boredom eating” and binge eating the jewellery helped them too.
What is more, many have also reported that their cravings for sugar and fast food decreased too.
So, to sum up our Slim piercing feedback:
- appetite decreased
- “boredom eating” and binge eating eased
- cravings for sugar decreased significantly
- they found it easier to break their dependence on fast food
- stress also eased considerably
In addition, the Slim piercing also boosted metabolism in many people!
In a study published in 2007 a special pressure needle was placed on the tragus of the subjects, giving constant stimulation to the vagus nerve. Based on the observations, it can be said that as a result of long-term stimulation of the tragus, the time of gastric peristalsis became longer, which contributed to a reduction in body weight and appetite.
