The effect of the Daith piercing: how it worked for our guests
Although many people know the migraine piercing, few know that the Daith piercing has also had a pain-relieving effect for many.
But what is there to know about the Daith piercing? What is the effect of the Daith piercing and how is it inserted? Where can you have such a wellbeing body jewel done? You can find the answers to these questions in my article below.
What you need to know about the Daith piercing
The Daith piercing, just like the migraine piercing, is a wellbeing body jewel. It is located in the inner fold of the ear , and since it is a cartilage area, the healing time can be 8–12 weeks.
However, it is worth waiting patiently for it to heal, because many thousands of our guests have already reported that the Daith piercing helped them with anxiety and the migraine complaints resulting from it . So for many people the effect of the Daith piercing brought a significant, positive change in their everyday lives.
It is worth having the Daith piercing done on the side where you most often experience headaches; however, if your aim is to ease anxiety, it does not matter which ear the jewel goes into.
It is important to note that although there is currently no official contraindication for the Daith piercing, there are certain chronic illnesses for which specialists do not recommend it (e.g. diabetes, autoimmune problems).

The effect of the Daith piercing
According to the theory of acupuncture, in the ear, as in the whole body, meridian lines run, along which life energy flows (Qi, pronounced “chee”). By pressing/piercing specific points on the ear, we can stimulate these energy channels (meridians), and thereby the function of the related organ can be restored.
According to the feedback we have received, as a result of the Daith piercing:
- pain decreased / went away
- their general wellbeing improved
- anxiety decreased
For the time being there is still no explicit research evidence on the effect of the Daith piercing.
How is the Daith piercing inserted?
At Medical Piercing, when you arrive at the practice, first of all I carry out an assessment before inserting the Daith piercing. I examine the condition of your ear, ask you about your complaints and also take your medical history.
After this, based on based on pinpoint location, I determine the exact place of the piercing on your ear.
The piercing takes only a few moments, during which you may feel an unpleasant sensation like an insect bite, but this sensation passes once the piercing made of medical-grade metal has been inserted.
All the piercings used at the practice are made of medical-grade metal, which I sterilised in an autoclave before insertion.
After the piercing we chat for a few more minutes, meanwhile I check that everything is fine; then, if you would like a guarantee, we put it in writing, and with that I let you go home. Even after that, I don’t leave you on your own, because you will regularly receive information by e-mail with important advice on wearing and caring for the piercing.
I think follow-up with my guests is important, which is exactly why after 2 weeks I ask you for feedback on how you have been feeling since the piercing was placed, whether you have noticed any improvement and, if so, what; if not, we arrange a new appointment under the guarantee.
