Migraine piercing: 7 things worth knowing
For now, there is little information about the migraine piercing on the internet, so I thought I would now collect for you 7 interesting facts about this wellbeing body jewellery that are worth knowing before you go ahead and have the piercing done.
From my article below, you can find out this important information – enjoy reading!
1. In the West, the effects of the piercing have been observed since the 1990s.
A migraine piercing has a history going back much further than we might think! In the West, from the 1990s onwards, this wellbeing body jewellery became known.
2. The migraine piercing has helped our guests not only with migraine.
Many people don’t know it, but the migraine piercing may be an effective method not only for migraine, because according to our guests’ accounts it was also effective with the following headaches:
· weather-sensitive
· hormonal
· tension
· cluster
About what is known about these types of headache, I have written in detail.

3. A method that can also be used for children – with parental consent.
I also recommend the migraine piercing for children whose schooling is made miserable by this crippling, tormenting headache. However, I must note that only with written parental consent can children have a migraine piercing done!
4. Many felt its positive effect after just 2 weeks!
A significant proportion of our guests, 93% of them, reported that the migraine piercing had a positive effect on them, and they were happy to share this with us.
Those who struggled with serious complaints reported that, as a result of the migraine piercing, the frequency and intensity of their symptoms decreased. According to our guests who reported mild complaints, these stopped almost immediately after the piercing was placed.
5. It is no more painful than an insect bite.
I am often asked, “How painful is it to have a migraine piercing done?”, but it is hard to give a clear answer. A because the perception of pain is completely subjective, so it is completely individual who is affected and how much.
Some don’t even feel it, while others already feel unwell during the disinfection. Pain tolerance can be influenced by previous experiences, the quality of sleep and the level of stress.
Most people, however, describe the piercing as if they had just been bitten by an insect. But even this passes after the jewellery is placed.
The opinion of one of my lovely guests sums up everything about this:
I was afraid of the piercing, especially as it wasn’t me getting it but my daughter. I thought she would feel unwell, and so would I, but she coped with it really well. Admittedly, it also took Gabi’s friendly attitude and precision, because she immediately hit it off with her. I am grateful to Medical Piercing for freeing my daughter from migraine!
6. It is pierced at a special point of the ear, so it is important that a real specialist does it.
The location of the migraine piercing is in the fold made up of the winding piece of cartilage above the ear canal. Reaching it manually is very difficult, so I usually determine its exact location based on targeted point location. Usually this, and the assessment before it, is the longest process; after that, the piercing really only takes a moment.
7. More and more research is being done on the migraine piercing.
I have brought you two studies that were carried out to examine the effectiveness of the migraine piercing. However, further research is still ongoing todayto fully uncover the physiological workings and effects of the piercing.
The first study was carried out by the London Migraine Clinic. The specialists examined individuals struggling with migraine who received a migraine piercing.
Based on the results of the study, it can be said that:
· 75% of the participants state that after the piercing was placed, their headaches eased significantly or went away completely
· 82% of those using the piercing are completely satisfied
· only 11% reported that they did not notice any significant change after the piercing
Finally, the doctors who carried out the study, Dr Chris Blatchley and Professor Arnold Wilkins, summarised the study and said that, in their opinion, this procedure puts less strain on the bodythan the constant use of medicines, and also if the piercing is done by a suitable specialist, the positive result may be even higher.
Even more powerful together with +1 Shenmen piercing!
There are headaches so severe that, for some of our guests, the migraine piercing alone was no longer enough. However, this usually becomes clear during the assessment, and then I usually also recommend the Shenmen piercing alongside it. According to our guests, the two together stopped the intensity and frequency of the agonising headaches much more effectively.
In my studio, I also give a discount for this! If you need both pieces of jewellery (or you specifically want them), then on the price of the jewellery I give a 50% discount, so the price is only 36,900 Forints.
Our wellbeing piercings do not count as a cure and do not replace medical treatment; the description of their effectiveness is based on our guests’ feedback.
If you are looking for a specialist experienced in migraine piercings who even gives a guarantee with the piercing, then you are in the right place! Book with me at my Budapest studio or at one of my studios outside Budapest!
