Migraine piercing during pregnancy – why is it not recommended?
The migraine piercing is recommended for many people and has already helped our guests with almost every type of headache. Even though we recommend this wellbeing body jewel even for children, in one case it is not recommended, and that is pregnancy.
How does the migraine piercing work? In which cases has it helped so far at our studio? Why is the migraine piercing not recommended during pregnancy? What is doctors’ position on this method? You can find out now from this article!
This is how the migraine piercing works
During acupuncture treatment, a special thin needle is inserted at specific points along the meridians (usually several at once), in order to release the blockage that stands in the way of life energy (Qi, or “chee”).
The migraine piercing is also pierced into such a special point, the fold above the ear canal, which lies in a curved little piece of cartilage, so we are talking about a hard-to-reach spot, so piercing it requires experience and accuracy.

In these cases the migraine piercing was effective for our guests
According to our guests’ feedback, the piercing all types of migraine (with aura, without aura, aura only, without migraine) has already helped them, but they have experienced its positive effects not only with this type of headache!
The second most common headache, the tension headache , has also brought positive results for many. This headache, which mainly affects women, appears at the back of the head or like a band around the whole head, and can be worsened by teeth grinding, joint pain and head injury.
For cyclically recurring headaches (cluster) the migraine piercing has also worked for several hundred of our guests, and furthermore hormonal and weather-sensitive headaches also eased significantly for some of our guests.
Although hormonal headaches can also occur during pregnancy, unfortunately the migraine piercing is not recommended during pregnancy. Let’s see why!
Migraine piercing during pregnancy – this is why it is not recommended
At present there is no research on what effect the migraine piercing during pregnancy has on the pregnancy.

That is exactly why this topic must be handled carefully, and that is why it can be said that the migraine piercing is not recommended during pregnancy.
Another reason why it is not recommended to have a piercing during pregnancy is that it may have to be removed for the birth anyway, and later the baby can easily grab it and pull the jewel out.
Medical opinions on the migraine piercing
Many doctors are still cautious about wellbeing body jewellery, or say nothing about it at all. Most often this is because they have no experience of the topic or have never heard of it.
In my experience, a doctor who knows the migraine piercing and the principle of how it works will recommend the migraine piercing as a complementary treatment. However, the migraine piercing during pregnancy will still not be recommended by doctors either.
Our wellbeing piercings do not count as a cure and do not replace medical treatment; the description of their effectiveness is based on our guests’ feedback.
Although the migraine piercing is not recommended during pregnancy, I look forward to seeing you from the 6th week after giving birth if no other solution works for your headaches! Book an appointment online now!
